Vocabulary for Describing Nutrition and Dietetics

Objective:
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to understand and use relevant vocabulary related to nutrition and dietetics.
Materials:
Whiteboard, dry erase markers
Vocabulary Words:
- Nutrient
- Food group
- Macronutrients
- Micronutrients
- Calorie
- Balanced diet
- Carbohydrates
- Protein
- Fats
- Vitamins
- Minerals
Procedure:
- Introduction (5 minutes): Explain the topic and why it’s important.
- Brainstorm (5 minutes): Ask the students to brainstorm words related to nutrition and dietetics. Write the words they come up with on the board.
- Present Vocabulary Words (10 minutes): Go over the vocabulary words one by one. Ask the students to define each word in their own words.
- Group Activity (15 minutes): Give each group a set of the vocabulary words. Ask each group to come up with a sentence for each word.
- Summary (5 minutes): Ask each group to share their sentences and review the words one more time.

- Explained the topic and why it’s important
- Brainstormed words related to nutrition and dietetics
- Presented vocabulary words and asked students to define each one in their own words
