Vocabulary for Describing Fitness and Rehabilitation
The student will be able to understand and demonstrate their knowledge of vocabulary related to physical fitness and rehabilitation.
The teacher will lead a discussion around physical fitness and rehabilitation and ask students to share any experiences they have with either of these topics.
The teacher will introduce the lesson topic, Vocabulary for Describing Fitness and Rehabilitation, and explain the importance of learning this vocabulary. The teacher will then provide the students with the following vocabulary words and definitions:
Rehabilitation – the process of restoring one’s health or ability after an injury or illness.
Fitness – having good health and physical condition.
Endurance – the ability to keep going without becoming tired.
Balance – the ability to remain steady and not fall over.
Agility – the ability to move quickly and easily.
Core Strength – strength and endurance in the deep abdominal and lower back muscles.
Flexibility – the ability to move joints through their full range of motion.
Strength – the ability to exert force against resistance.
The teacher will provide the students with examples of sentences using each of the vocabulary words, and ask them to generate their own sentences for each one.
The teacher will lead an activity in which students work together in groups to create a routine of exercises for a person with an injury who is in the process of rehabilitation.
The teacher will give students a quiz to assess their understanding and mastery of the material.
The teacher will ask the students to share what they learned during the lesson and provide a summary of the key points.
