Objectives:
• Students will be able to explain 5 environmental issues.
• Students will be able to understand the implications of these 5 environmental issues.
• Students will be able to share their opinion on the 5 environmental issues.
Materials:
• Whiteboard and markers
• Handouts of environmental issues
• List of words related to the environment
Anticipatory Set:
• Ask students to think of one environmental issue they are concerned about.
• Discuss the environmental issue they suggested with the class.
Direct Instruction:
• Introduce the rest of the environmental issues with a handout list.
• Explain the meaning of each issue in detail.
• Give examples of how these environmental issues affect our everyday lives.
Guided Practice:
• Have students work in small groups to discuss each environmental issue.
• Ask volunteers to explain their group’s discussion to the class.
Independent Practice:
• Have students choose one environmental issue and write a short response about it.
• Ask them to share their thoughts with the class.
Closure:
• Ask students to list the 5 environmental issues discussed.
• Ask them to explain why these issues are important.
Summary:
