Body Parts and Health Vocabulary

  • Head – the uppermost part of the body containing the brain, eyes, ears, nose, and mouth
  • Neck – the part of the body connecting the head to the torso
  • Shoulders – the joint connecting the arms to the torso
  • Arms – the upper limbs of the body used for grasping and manipulation
  • Hands – the body part at the end of the arm used for grasping and manipulation
  • Fingers – the digits on the hand used for grasping and manipulation
  • Torso – the central part of the body between the head and the legs
  • Abdomen – the part of the torso containing the stomach and other organs
  • Back – the part of the body opposite the front, extending from the neck to the pelvis
  • Buttocks – the fleshy area at the back of the torso, often used for sitting
  • Legs – the lower limbs of the body used for walking and standing
  • Knees – the joint connecting the thigh and lower leg
  • Feet – the body part at the end of the leg used for standing and walking
  • Toes – the digits on the foot used for standing and walking
  • Lungs – the organs used for breathing
  • Heart – the organ used to pump blood throughout the body
  • Brain – the organ used to control the body’s functions and process information
  • Liver – the organ responsible for detoxifying the body and producing bile
  • Kidneys – the organs responsible for filtering waste products from the blood
  • Bones – the hard structures that make up the skeleton.
