Basic negative sentence formation

Objectives
• To learn how to create negative sentences in English
• To understand the structure of a basic negative sentence

Anticipatory Set
• Ask students to think of a situation when they had to say “no” in English
• Discuss examples with the class

Procedure
• Explain the formation of a basic negative sentence: Subject + Auxiliary Verb + Not + Main Verb
• Show examples on the whiteboard
• Ask students to put the words in the correct order to create negative sentences
• Hand out worksheets to practice creating negative sentences
• Once students complete the worksheets, go over the answers as a class

Closure
• Ask students to create their own negative sentences
• Present positive and negative sentences to the class and ask them to identify which is which
